The youngster’s in good spirits

Pau Cubarsi has sent out a message to fans after requiring 10 stitches to a facial wound sustained during Wednesday’s Champions League win for Barcelona over Crvena zvezda.

The teenager was forced off covered in blood after being kicked in the face, with it later emerging that he had been stitched back together in the Barcelona dressing room.

Cubarsi has now shared a message on Instagram in response to a post from Barcelona that showed his bloodied face after the game. He wrote simply: “Everything for this badge.”

Cubarsi’s bravery has already led to comparisons with Barcelona legend Carles Puyol who was never one to shirk a challenge. Indeed the teenager has already admitted that he “wants to be like Puyol” and that the defender is one of his idols.

Barcelona’s young star is already well on way to following in Puyol’s footsteps. He’s already a fixture in the team at the age of 17 and looks set to have a long future in the Barcelona first team.
