Raphinha says Olmo situation could deter players from joining Barca
The Brazilian has had his say
Barcelona captain Raphinha has admitted the current situation regarding Dani Olmo and Pau Victor could have an knock-on effort in the future.
The two players are currently ineligible to play for Barcelona, although the club are hoping to get the duo re-registered for the rest of the season.
Raphinha was asked at a press conference ahead of Barca’s clash with Athletic about the situation and if it could put players off signing for the Catalans.
Here’s what he said:
“I can’t say no to you because then I’d be lying. I think it can affect the future,” he told reporters.
“If I were at another club, perhaps I would think about it. But when I came here, before signing, I knew the situation at the club and I waited to be able to come here and I don’t regret anything.”
Raphinha also said he’s hoping that the situation will be resolved soon and that the two players can return to action.
“We have to trust that this will be resolved quickly. In the end, we get very positive messages and we have to wait,” he added.
“We know the same thing as you many times. We try to stay calm so we can do our work during the day. I hope that the people who are involved in this will bring us quick solutions.”
Barcelona are expected to hear back from the CSD this week but an answer is unlikely to come before their next game against Athletic.
