Common sense has prevailed

Barcelona have been handed some good news from the RFEF after it was confirmed that Osasuna’s appeal over Inigo Martinez’s participation in their La Liga clash has been dismissed.

Osasuna complained that Martinez should not have featured as he had pulled out of international duty with Spain and was not eligible to play in the rescheduled game which took place just four days after La Roja’s clash with the Netherlands.

However, the RFEF’s Discipline Committee has now informed Barcelona it has rejected the complaint, according to multiple reports.

Martinez pulled out of the Spain squad on March 17 with a knee injury and Barca sent a medical report to the national team at the time which was accepted and a replacement was called up.

The defender was then passed fit in time for the Osasuna fixture and featured for Hansi Flick’s side. The game actually took place before the end of the international break after being rescheduled following the tragic death of Dr Carles Minarro Garcia.
