Paul Pogba to Join Barcelona in January?

Depends how much you want to read into the French midfielder's recent interview with TF1...

We're only a few days removed from the summer transfer window, and already the transfer gossip has started up again in anticipation for January. Especially where Catalan giants, FC Barcelona are concerned; following their transfer ban as imposed by FIFA, the Blaugrana were unable to register any new recruits in the summer and while it didn't stop them from making a splash in the market as they swooped for Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal, it did somewhat place a dampener on their spending.

With the club's revenues now exceeding €600 million per season, it's obvious that Barcelona have money to spend in the transfer market and our current board has not been averse to big-name signings. Just look at Neymar and Luis Suarez for precedent; and that's before we mention their fascination with Paul Pogba.

The Juventus midfielder is widely (and rightly) regarded as one of the truly world-class players in the sport, and at just 22, he is considered to be one of his generation's most promising and likely transcendent players, alongside current Blaugrana forward, Neymar. All throughout Barcelona's summer presidential elections, Pogba's name was floated around the newspapers as a target of both Joan Laporta and of Josep Maria Bartomeu. It was even rumoured that Bartomeu had already agreed a deal to sign the French international in the future.

And so, we come full circle to Pogba's recent interview with French television station, TF1 -- in which he opened up about his decision to remain at Juventus in the face of interest from the likes of Chelsea, before being quizzed on the topic of a potential move to Camp Nou.

"Today I am at Juventus -- but I do now know for how long. Why did I stay? Why not? We will stay this year, and then we will see how things go. I am at Juventus, I am only thinking about Juventus. Has a deal been struck with Barça in January? I don't know, for now I'm at Juventus and I'm focused only on them because we haven't started well. As for the rest, we'll see".

Paul Pogba -- speaking to TF1

I think Paul puts it best -- we will see in due course. But for now, let the rumours begin...
