Rafinha Negotiating with Real Betis - Report

His father and agent, Mazinho, is said to already be in Seville

Rafinha could be verging closer to a loan move to Real Betis, according to RAC1. The La Masia graduate had started Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Spanish Supercup, but he did not play in the first match of La Liga, a 3-0 win over Deportivo Alavés.

The midfielder played last season on loan at Inter Milan after rehabbing from a long-term injury. He had impressed in preseason, which earned him a starting spot in the Supercup. However, he did not impress in that match and it’s he feels that the team will not have enough faith in him to give him playing time this season.

The player’s father, who is also his agent, Mazinho, is rumored to be in Seville negotiating the move. Mazinho, who won the 1994 World Cup with Brazil, also represents an ex-Barcelona player, Thiago, who is Mazinho’s son and Rafinha’s brother.

Quique Setien’s system at Betis could be a good fit for them, and they may need the help, if their 0-3 loss to Levante is any evidence.

“He’s a member of the squad and, as it stands, he will stay with us,” Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde previously said. “He’s with us and the only thing which has changed in respect to last year is that he’s spent a long period of time out injured. We spoke with him and searched for a solution in the January transfer window because the team was already complete and he needed regular minutes. This year we’ve seen him from the beginning.”
