Messi is being disrespectful about Copa America - Alves

The Brazilian says his friend is in the wrong

Dani Alves has offered his thoughts on Lionel Messi and his comments about corruption at the Copa America after helping Brazil to clinch the title on Sunday against Peru.

The former Barcelona star enjoyed a fine campaign in Brazil, captaining the side to victory and picking up the Golden Ball for the tournament’s best player.

However, he says he can not agree with his friend Messi’s comments and feels that the Barcelona captain is being disrespectful towards his team.

“A friend is not always right just because he’s a friend. You can say it in the heat of the moment, but I still won’t agree,” he said.

”Firstly, he’s disrespecting an institution such as the Selecao, in my view. Secondly, he’s being disrespectful with several professionals who put a lot of things aside so they could be there fighting for a dream.

”I’m a friend who always tells the truth when it’s due, and I think he was wrong for saying these things.”
