Ter Stegen plays down heroics after Barca beat Atleti
The goalkeeper played a starring role on Sunday
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen played down his heroics at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday in his side’s 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.
The Germany international made two brilliant saves in the first half to deny Mario Hermoso and Alvaro Morata but says it’s all in a day’s work.
“I try to do my job. These matches make us grow as a team and that is what it is about. I am really happy because now we’ve played well for a few games while winning.
“We knew it was a difficult place to come. It’s normal that they have chances. They have a lot of quality. But defensively we played really well and in the end we’ve scored the goal which has earned a really important win.”
“That’s what we hoped for before the game and what we prepared for all week. I am really happy with this win.”

Lionel Messi will take most of the headlines after scoring a brilliant late winner for the visitors, but Ter Stegen’s performance was just as important in sealing the win.
