Barcelona willing to swap players with Ajax for André Onana - report
Neto, Riqui Puig, Alex Collado, and Carles Aleñá have been mentioned.
FC Barcelona are in for Ajax goalkeeper André Onana and are willing to part with players to complete the deal, according to a report from the Netherlands.
Onana is Ajax’s main keeper but came up through the Barcelona youth system. He would follow in the footsteps of Jasper Cillessen, who went from Ajax’s first choice to Barcelona’s cup keeper.
In exchange. the Catalans are rumored to be offering their own reserve keeper, Neto, as well as one of Riqui Puig, Alex Collado, and Carles Aleñá. Those younger outfield players could be loan deals, however.
Ajax had set the keeper’s sale price at 40 million euro, a rather high figure - but why not? It is rumored the Dutch team does not want to let go of their high-performing player. But neither Barcelona, nor other interested teams such as Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain, were willing to pay that price.
Instead, it is rumored that the teams are hoping the figure goes down as the market in general trends downward.
Barcelona reportedly value Neto between 20 and 25 million, and the idea is to only get Onana if they do not have to spend much more than they get out of Neto.
If the price was too high, Barcelona B’s Iñaki Peña could become the backup keeper.
