What’s going on with Arthur and Barcelona?
The Brazilian is making all sorts of headlines
The rumor mill continues to churn out reports concerning summer ins and outs at Barcelona and one name that continues to feature is that of Arthur Melo.
The Brazilian has had a bit of a tricky 2019-20 season, largely due to injury, but has made it pretty clear he wants to stay at the Camp Nou.
The Brazilian told Gazzetta dello Sport that he was proud to hear of interest from Inter Milan but is only thinking of Barcelona and sees himself at the club “for many years to come.”

His quotes followed on from reports that Inter boss Antonio Conte wanted Barca to include the Brazilian in a deal for Lautaro Martinez.
The report was not the first time Arthur’s future had been discussed either, and it’s unlikely to be the last either in the current uncertain climate.
Sport reported at the start of the month that Barcelona considered Arthur ‘Untouchable’ and that he was one of the few players that the club would refuse to sell.
Arthur certainly seems focused on Barca. He has revealed on social media he’s been trying to learn Catalan during lockdown.

Yet the rumor mill does not appear to be convinced at all and keeps on spewing out reports about Arthur and other clubs.
Mundo Deportivo have reported this week Barcelona have received strong offers from Tottenham Hotspur and Inter for Arthur and both would be able to increase his salary.
The same newspaper has also reported that there’s a possibility Barca could look into swapping Arthur for Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele. MD reckon Barca’s official stance is that they want him to stay but unofficially there are a few doubts.
RAC1 have a similar report, only they claim Barcelona would swap Arthur for Juventus playmaker Miralem Pjanic instead. Onda Cero say Barcelona have put him on the market and could be used as part of a swap deal.
It’s perhaps also worth mentioning another recent report from ESPN who claimed only Frenkie de Jong, Lionel Messi, Marc-Andre ter Stegen are “untouchable” at Barcelona.
And it doesn’t end there either as the weekend has brought a fresh wave of conflicting reports about Arthur’s future at Barcelona.
The midfielder is again on the front page of MD on Saturday with a report that Juventus are keen and have offered players in exchange.

But over at Sport there’s news that actually Arthur is not on the market at all, and Barcelona would only sell if they received a mega offer.
All of which makes it difficult to know what is true, particularly given the financial uncertainty surrounding football because of the coronavirus pandemic ahead of the summer transfer market.
What we do know is that Arthur has made it pretty clear he wants to stay and has a contract with Barcelona until 2024, while Barca should be more concerned with trying to find buyers for Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal.
