Barcelona, Manchester City, and Real Madrid were in for him

Lautaro Martínez will stay at Inter Milan, to the disappointment of Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester City, according to the Argentine’s agent, Beto Yaqué.

“Lautaro is at Inter. We haven’t spoken about Madrid. There is nothing there. We have a great relationship with the board. He will stay here this season,” Yaqué told Sky Sports.

Martínez was mostly linked with Barcelona but it seems a lot of the biggest clubs in Europe were also vying for him.

There are rumors that he could sign a new contract, that will improve his salary but also allow him to leave if a good offer comes for him. His current deal expires in 2023.

According to the media, Martínez, alongside Yaqué and his other agent Rolando Zárate, met with Inter today to discuss details about his contract and future at the club.

Barcelona were very keen on him but simply could not afford Inter’s asking price, which was the cost of his release clause: 111 million. The coronavirus pandemic, which led to massive losses for many clubs, could have played a role in that.
