The Uruguayan wants to replace his countryman

Edinson Cavani has “offered himself” to FC Barcelona, according to a report from Catalonia.

With the expected departure of Luis Suárez, Barça could be short of striking options and at the moment, Cavani is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

The player has reportedly given a call to Barcelona at least twice in the past few weeks. And, while the club admires him and his goalscoring ability, they did not reciprocate by offering him a contract. At the moment, it seems he is not a priority for Barcelona.

Barcelona have been pursuing Lautaro Martínez (Inter Milan), who is, in fact, the priority signing as far as forwards go. However, the young Argentine is quite expensive, and it seems less and less likely that Barça would afford him.

In that case, Cavani could be an option. He would come in on a free, and the salary he is asking for is less than that of Luis Suárez.

Atlético Madrid were close to getting Cavani, but the deal never quite materialized. He is asking for a two year contract. There are only two weeks left until the transfer window closes, and he does not have a team yet.
