Another injury blow for Koeman’s men

Sergio Busquets is expected to be out of action for at least three weeks after sustaining a knee injury on international duty with Spain.

The midfielder came off early during Saturday’s 1-1 Nations League draw with Switzerland and is now set to undergo an MRI scan on Monday.

According to Catalunya Radio, Busquets will miss “a minimum of three weeks” after suffering a mild knee ligament sprain.

If the estimate proves correct then Busquets will miss La Liga games against Atletico, Osasuna and Cadiz and also the remainder of Barca’s Champions League group games.

Barcelona have a packed fixture list in December and Busquets could be back in time for a run of La Liga games in December after the Champions League group stage has concluded.

The Catalan giants take on Levante, Valencia, Real Valladolid and Eibar before waving goodbye to 2020.

Busquets’s injury look like giving Miralem Pjanic a chance to establish himself in the starting XI alongside Frenkie de Jong, although Carles Alena may be hoping for more game time too.
