A fitness boost for the Catalan giants

Philippe Coutinho looks to be in good shape to be passed fit for Saturday’s crunch La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Barca confirmed the Brazilian “completed part of the session with the rest of the group” on Monday as the club look towards the return of La Liga.

Coutinho has been sidelined since picking up a hamstring injury against Real Madrid, but it looks as though he will be passed fit and included in Ronald Koeman’s squad to face Atleti.

Koeman won’t have much time to prepare for the game. The Dutch coach will not have his whole squad back from international duty until Thursday which may disrupt his plans.

Barca go into the game already six points behind Diego Simeone’s side and really can’t afford to lose any more ground to the Rojiblancos in La Liga.

Coutinho’s return will certainly boost Koeman’s options. The Brazilian’s not guaranteed a start, but Koeman will have to make changes with Ansu Fati out injured.
