Inter sporting director warns Barça: ‘If you want Lautaro, pay the clause’
The Italians have set the record straight on the never-ending rumors
There’s a new Lautaro Martínez story every day. The Inter Milan striker is Barcelona’s number one target for the upcoming transfer window, and we have one rumor after another with complicated swap deals and dozens of players allegedly being offered by Barça to lower the price and convince Inter.
But the Italian club’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, went on TV to set the record straight: the only way Barcelona can sign Lautaro is by paying the full, €111 million release clause in the player’s contract.
“In reality, as far as Martinez is concerned, there is only one road that can take him away from Inter and that is the payment of a clause. It is the only possibility that exists to see Lautaro Martinez away from Inter today.
“We have a friendly and cordial relationship with [Barcelona]. I don’t hide this. And I know that Barcelona knows exactly what our intentions are. Inter have no intention of selling Lautaro Martínez. Then I repeat, there is a clause.”

Because of Barça’s alarming financial situation it is hard to see them finding 111 million euros to pay the clause, and if Inter aren’t willing to do business any other way, we might not see Lautaro at Camp Nou next season.
