A last home game of the 2020-21 season

Barcelona play their final league game of the 2020-21 season at the Camp Nou on Sunday with Celta Vigo the visitors to the famous stadium.

The game comes after demoralizing draws to Atletico Madrid and Levante that have all but ended Barcelona’s titles hopes.

The Catalan giants have a few injury problems ahead of the match, and will be without Frenkie de Jong due to suspension, but need to get back to winning ways with coach Ronald Koeman under scrutiny at present.

Let’s see how they might line up:

Koeman has a few issues at the back with Oscar Mingueza definitely out as he’s playing for Barcelona B this weekend. Sergi Roberto is also missing because of a thigh injury, while Ronald Araujo is a doubt with an ankle problem.

The Uruguayan was initially expected to miss the last two games but did train on Friday and could line up alongside Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet in front of Marc-Andre ter Stegen in goal.

Ousmane Dembele featured as a wing-back against Levante and could continue in that role ahead of Sergino Dest, while Jordi Alba should take up his usual spot on the opposite flank.

The big question in midfield is who replaces Frenkie de Jong? The Netherlands international has been an ever-present this season but will sit this one out after picking up a fifth booking of the season last time out.

There are plenty of options for Koeman and it will be interesting to see who he picks. Ilaix Moriba, Miralem Pjanic, and Riqui Puig are the most likely options and all three will be desperate for a start.

Attack

There are unlikely to be any surprises up front with Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann likely to continue. Martin Braithwaite is fit again but will likely start on the bench and arrive at some point in the second half.

Dembele is an option in attack if Koeman does decide to switch things around. The Frenchman enjoyed himself against Levante, setting up Pedri’s goal and then scoring his 11th of the season.

Possible XI: Ter Stegen; Araujo, Pique, Lenglet; Dembele, Busquets, Moriba, Pedri, Alba; Messi, Griezmann.
