Laporta denies he pressures Koeman for Puig game time
‘I will never pressure my coach’
Joan Laporta came out this week to refute speculation that he places any sort of pressure on Ronald Koeman to give Riqui Puig game time. This comes on the back of a few reports sprinkling in over the last couple of weeks that Laporta wants to see more of the young midfielder on the pitch.
“I may have said I like him, like I like Collado, but I will never pressure my coach.
“I ask the coach ‘how is this one’ or ‘how is another one’. I don’t want to lose a homegrown talent.”

Puig could be an interesting piece of Barca’s rebuild but just hasn’t seen enough playing time under Koeman. He barely played last season and hasn’t managed a single minute so far this campaign.
Koeman may not be a fan of Puig but he does seem to be a favorite of Laporta’s. The president praised Puig back in June, speaking of his “extraordinary quality” and “understanding of the game and the philosophy of the club.”
