Malcom asks to leave in January - report

The Brazilian wants more minutes

Malcom may have only been at Barcelona a few short months, but the Brazilian is already eyeing the exit door, according to the latest speculation.

Mundo Deportivo report that Malcom spoke to Ernesto Valverde after returning from international duty and asked to leave in January if his current situation does not improve.

The 21-year-old has managed just 25 minutes of first-team action for Barcelona this season, although he is expected to start their Copa del Rey tie against Cultural Leonesa.

Valverde apparently told Malcom that he’d done nothing wrong, and the only reason he wasn’t playing was because of the strong competition for places at the club.

However, Malcom appears to be frustrated with his lack of game time and wants to leave if he does not see more action between now and the opening of the winter transfer window.

It’s not clear if Malcom wants a loan or a permanent deal. It seems unlikely Barcelona will want to sell a player they spent €41m on in July, but then again Yerry Mina only managed seven months at the club before being sold.

The report reckons that plenty of clubs have already expressed an interest in Malcom, so if Barca do allow him to leave he should not lack of options.
