Why Inigo has been left out of Barca squad to face Betis

The defender is out
Inigo Martinez is a notable absentee from Barcelona’s squad to face Real Betis on Saturday in La Liga.
Hansi Flick has called up 22 players for the game but there’s no sign of Martinez, although Andreas Christensen has been passed fit and gets the nod.
Barcelona have issued an update to confirm why Martinez is out of the game.
A club statement read: “The first team player Inigo Martinez has a minor gluteal injury in his left leg and is not available for this fixture.”

Saturday’s match comes just days before Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final tie with Dortmund and that will no doubt factor into Flick’s thinking.
Barcelona are also in the midst of a brutal run of fixtures, meaning the German coach has his hands full trying to keep everyone fit, firing and free from fatigue.
Yet Flick has been boosted by the return to fitness of Christensen, with the Dane hoping for his first minutes since August.
